HallidayBooks are now offering an exclusive critique and tutorial service for writers and illustrators of children's picture books.

As a successful children's publisher with over 20 years experience, Nicholas Halliday is in a perfect position to help those working in this highly competitive area of the industry. If you have a manuscript of up to 5000 words and/or illustrations and would like it to receive Nick's personal attention please contact us. All work submitted will be reviewed by Nick personally and will not be passed on to other editors. At all times he will be as honest and constructive as possible. You will therefore receive the opinion of a working children's publisher who is aware of the importance of every element of a successful picture book.

WHAT DOES THIS SERVICE OFFER?

AUTHORS • Each manuscript will read by Nick and you will receive a full detailed typed critique of your work. Nick may suggest fundamental changes which can be made at your discretion. Nick will conduct a second critique of the same work after revision for half the full price paid for the first.

ILLUSTRATORS • Where images accompany manuscripts they will be critiqued along with the text with both quality and suitability taken into account. Nicholas will indicate where changes might be made to improve the relationship between image and text. Where a portfolio is submitted, your work will be judged for its suitability for use within children's publishing. Nicholas has a wealth of experience in this area and will be able to judge the quality and suitability and you will receive a full written critique of your work.

This all adds up to a comprehensive assessment and will help you take another important step towards seeing your work in print.

• Stories up to 2000 words £105 (Return read through £55)

• Correspondence will be via email or post
